🗺️ What you will encounter along the way

1. Departure from San Biagio and the Fiastra Abbey Nature Reserve

The tour begins at the Pieve San Biagio farmhouse. After a few kilometers of relaxing pedaling, you'll enter the green oasis of the Abbadia di Fiastra Nature Reserve. Here, you can admire the majestic Cistercian Abbey of Chiaravalle di Fiastra and ride along the shores of the tranquil Le Vene Lake, surrounded by the lush vegetation of the Abbadia di Fiastra Nature Reserve.

2. The Ancient Urbs Salvia and the Fortress of Urbisaglia

Leaving the reserve, the route begins to climb towards Urbisaglia, crossing the Urbs Salvia Archaeological Park, the best-preserved Roman colony in the Marche region. On an e-bike, you can ride alongside impressive relics of the past, including the Water Tower, the Cryptoporticus, the Theater, and the Roman Amphitheater. Once you reach the top of the village, the effort of the climb will be rewarded with a visit to the Rocca di Urbisaglia, a 16th-century military fortification offering breathtaking views of the Macerata hills and the Sibillini Mountains.

3. Descent towards the Rancia Castle

After a well-deserved break in the village of Urbisaglia, the route continues gently downhill towards the valley until reaching the famous Castello della Rancia. This castle, originally built as a grange (fortified agricultural warehouse) and later transformed into a fully-fledged medieval fortress, is one of the area's most famous historical landmarks.

4. Return to the Marche landscapes

From Castello della Rancia, the loop completes, following scenic country roads through olive groves and vineyards, before returning to the starting point in San Biagio.
